Think of the most recognizable logos. The white Coca-Cola logo, the multi-color Apple, the fun orange for Nickolodeon. They can convey the message of the brand so perfectly. Sometimes a color can be more powerful than the words themselves. All you need to see is that red Target bullseye and you know that a great shopping experience is near.
According to research compiled by web design and marketing company WebPageFX, people make a subconscious judgment about a product in less than 90 seconds of viewing, and a majority of these people base that assessment on color alone. In fact, almost 85% of consumers cite color as the primary reason they buy a particular product, and 80% of people believe color increases brand recognition.
A study called Exciting Red and Competent Blue also shows that a person’s purchasing intent is greatly affected by colors due to the impact they have on how a brand is perceived. Other studies have revealed that our brains prefer recognizable brands, which means that a color can really determine your brand identity.
